The installation of the tapered roller bearing

We could use the adjusting nut, spacer or spring on the axis neck to adjust the axial clearance of the tapered roller bearing. How much is the clearance is related with the installation, distance among the tapered roller bearings and the material of the bearing pedestal.

As for the tapered roller bearing of high load and rotate speed, when we adjust the clearance, we must consider the effect on the axial clearance because of the rise of temperature, and control it to the minimum, that is to say, the axial clearance should be adjusted a little larger.

As for the tapered roller bearing with low rotate speed and suffering great shock, we should install it with no clearance or with some load. The purpose is to make the tapered roller and rolling track touch fine and the load distribute uniformly to prevent them from being shocked and damaged. We could check the axial clearance with dial indicator.
