Types of bearing steel which
are most common used in the
idler roller bearing
The most generally used bearing steels are classified as: chromium
bearing steel, carburized bearing steel, corrosion resistance bearing steel, high
temperature resistance bearing steel, antimagnetic bearing steel, non-rust
bearing steel, carbon alloy bearing steel and so on.
Let´s mainly introduce the chromium bearing steel as follows:
The chromium bearing steel is a kind of chromium alloy bearing steel which contains 1.30 to 1.65
percent of the element chromium. The features of it are: the texture is uniform
and stable after the heat treatment, and it would have high hardness, good
abrasive resistance, good fatigue resistance. Meanwhile, it has high stability
in size and corrosion resistance. It
would have a good processability after being quenched, and it is cheap for
sale. The chromium bearing steel could meet the demands of use for the idler
roller bearing in generally condition.
The chromium bearing steel has been used widely in the world, and
the dosage of which inChinaaccounts for above 80 percent of all. The most common used models of it are GCr15
and GCr15SiMn, which have generally the same basic features, but GCr15SiMn has
a better hardenability feature than GCr15, so for the idler roller bearing with
big size, we´d better use GCr15SiMn. The chromium bearing steel is widely used
in producing rolling bodies and rings of the idler roller bearing.
It needs a great quantity of GCr15 to produce the idler roller
bearings which are used in motorcars, tractors, tanks, planes, machine tools,
electrical machines and mining machines.
GCr15SiMn is mainly used to produce the idler roller bearings with
thick wall, such as varieties of big and even huge idler roller bearings. It is
widely used in power tool.
As GCr15SiMn has a bad toughness, it could not meet the demands of
use for the idler roller bearings with thick wall. The national regulation
announces that it is forbidden to use GCr15SiMn in the idler roller bearings
which are used in the passenger cars.
Now new models of the chromium bearing steel, called GCr18SiMo and
GCr15SiMo, have been developed, they have a better feature than GCr15SiMn, which
could replace GCr15SiMn to be used in the mining machine.
